Its huge chambers seemed to extend and spread as far as the eye could see. The Cuckoo who flew backwards. © Gerald Moore, 1977.

'Tell us a story...' is an exhibition celebrating storytelling through visual means, featuring works from emerging and contemporary illustrators and animators.

This is the first exhibition focused on illustration and animation that the Gerald Moore Gallery has curated, and each work has been selected by students aged 11-16 from Eltham College, for their ability to spark imagination and delve into other worlds.

A selection of artists were researched by Curator Ruth Borthwick, to be shortlisted by students at Eltham College, each sent in images and film that responded to the title, ‘Tell us a story...’. and 20 were then invited to exhibit from this selection process.

Students were asked to consider how each image had a narrative within the work that captured their interest.

We had over 300 entries to our Open Call for the Environmental Crisis Exhibition and have chosen over 60 works from all over the world!

Young People aged 14-18 who have chosen Science, Art and Geography for GCSE and A-Level judged the entries across two days. We felt it important to have young voices represented by having them help in deciding who to exhibit, as this issue has been youth led and impacts their future the most.

We are now looking forward to next month when the exhibition opens on 13th February with a drinks reception 4pm-8pm. Please join us.

As a gallery with learning at its core we are proud to hold this exhibition on such an important topic and would like to give space to raising awareness and understanding the environmental crisis.

    Patrick Altes (http://patrickaltes.com)

International artist, whose solo show “Tolerance”, we are currently exhibiting.

A leading light in the emerging Franco-Algerian art movement, Altes’s first-hand experience of unjust, brutal and discriminatory societies fuelled a sense for the politically, socially and humanly acceptable which has become a thematic concern visible in all his creative work. In this timely, major exhibition, Altes confronts negative cultural stereotypes and advocates for tolerance and respect in times of angst, division and separatism.
