Come and see the lovely new installation The Garden of Hope in our Glass Link.
The Garden of Hope installed in the glass link is a collaborative art installation that focuses on the theme of TRANSFORMATION and celebrates the connections between HOPE, ACTION and CHANGE.
The installation's colourful animals and plants were made using recycled materials and was crafted by local artists Mary Banker and Eliana Peracchio along with 400 schoolchildren at Blackheath Prep in a series of 18 workshops over two weeks. The children collected, reimagined and transformed everyday packaging waste into whimsical creatures that adorn the enchanted garden and wrote uplifting handwritten messages of hope.
The Gerald Moore gallery is the artwork's fourth stop in its journey around South East London. The first was Blackheath Prep, then Lewisham Shopping Centre and the Albany at Deptford Lounge.
*In order to keep the project as close to zero waste as possible, art supplies and materials were donated by members of local community-based zero waste organisations including Buy Nothing Blackheath/Charlton/Lewisham, London.
