For this May Half Term, Gerald Moore Gallery will offer an exciting programme of art workshops for children ages 7 to 15. Your child will learn by making a number of objects and characters through a range of fun processes such as sculpting, painting, collaging and printing. Below are the list of activities.

Monday 30th - 10 am – 12 pm
Windsocks Making Workshop Celebrating Children’s Day
With Pam Su
Koinobori (Carp Streamer) are carp shaped windsocks to celebrate Children’s Day in Japan, which takes place in May. They are hung outside of houses of families with children.
Taking inspiration from Koinobori, we will be making windsocks in our workshop. Children will be able to decorate them how they want. Once finished, we will hang them outside in the wind.
Pam Su is an artist working in ceramics. She holds a MA from the Royal College of Art in Ceramics and Glass and BA from Cornell University in Film Studies. She strives to discover new forms with her hands and makes sculptures in clay. She is based in London.

With Haf Anuar
Create your own flag, learn flag symbology and make one that represents your own thoughts and feelings. Using textiles and paint, make a unique colourful symbol to wave proudly.
Haf is a multidisciplinary artist and sculptor working in London. He studied at Rhode Island School of Design, Providence, Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, London and The Ruskin School of Art, Oxford. He creates sculptural installations and mixed-media paintings.

With Rutie Borthwick
Design your own T-shirt, create a collaged image and learn how to transfer it onto a t-shirt. Use our amazing collection of images and bring in your own photographs/printed images you want to include on your own unique t-shirt.
Rutie is a multi-disciplinary artist working across painting, sculpture and installation. She holds a Masters of Fine Art from The Slade School of Art, London and a BA from Chelsea College of Art, London.

Design A Character: By Simple Mono-print
With Chenyue Yuan (Sharpay)
On this experimental workshop, each student will explore simple monotype process to create a character independently and design costumes in the collaboration with other participants. Students will be encouraged to play with composition, experiment with mark making and explore unfamiliar techniques to catch unexpected visual outcomes. Suitable for absolute beginners.
Chenyue Yuan (Sharpay) is an illustrator and practitioner who creates drawing-based illustrations and comics to explore social histories of sites with archival approaches. She finished her master degree at Royal College of Art in 2021 and later became a resident of New River Head working with House of Illustration.

With Naomi Fitzsimmons
Create a memory box/shadow box inspired by Joseph Cornell. Learn to make a box, and use collage and assemblages to create a personal interior. Bring along some meaninglful objects from home for inspiration.
Naomi is a London-based artist working in video and installation. She studied at Slade School of Fine Art, London, Chelsea College of Art and Design, London, Universitat der Kunste, Berlin and Central Saint Martins, London. She is interested in the performances and formation of the self as impacted by socio-economic factors.

Plaster building, Architectural Façades

Come on a journey of making. Using clay, plaster and more materials to create a beautiful façade of a building. Learn the techniques that people have used for centuries and take home a beautiful artwork that you can display with pride.
