Today we say goodbye to our incredible Artist-in-Residence, Miriam Austin, who has been with us since August 2024 at Eltham College.

It has been a truly enriching experience having Miriam share her expertise with our students, teaching drawing, painting, and sculptural techniques rooted in her own multidisciplinary practice. During her residency, she brought with her a wealth of experience as both an artist and a researcher, completing her PhD at the Ruskin School of Art, Oxford University.

A highlight of her time with us was her exhibition, Alaria, held at the Gerald Moore Gallery in May. The show featured works by Austin alongside artists Eiko Soga and Esther Teichmann, and explored powerful themes including bodies of water, the human form, mythology, and ecological transformation—expressed through sculpture, photography, video, and installation.

We are immensely grateful for her time here and the inspiration she brought to our community. We wish Austin all the very best in her upcoming projects and look forward to following the exciting developments in her practice.

We also look forward to having our next Artist-in-Residence in August. More details will be announced soon...
