South London Women Artists was established in 2008 to create a supportive community of women artists living and working in the area. Since then we have grown to over 100 members. Through our exhibitions, performances, educational workshops and publications we aim to raise awareness of not only our members but women artists generally.
In 2014 SLWA won the SAF Award for Visual Arts for "I'm inside - Reing the Bell", a tribute to Judy Chicago's Dinner Party. In the same year we were prize winners in the Big Draw for our collaborative drawing "Hidden Narratives - Dangerous Erasions" at The Albany as part of Deptford X contemporary art festival. This year "Finders Keepers Losers Weepers", our residency and a symposium at Conway Hall, was shortlisted for another SAF Award for the Visual Arts.
