Join us for a fun-filled Cardboard Boat-Making Workshop with artist, Lee Mok Yee at the Gerald Moore Gallery! Get ready to unleash your creativity and build your very own cardboard boat from scratch.

In this workshop, participants will explore various techniques for working with cardboard, a material that is easily available, everyday, and sustainable. Guided by Malaysian artist Lee Mok Yee, participants will learn how to cut, fold, and bend cardboard using simple tools to construct boat forms. Along the way, they will also discover the symbols, patterns, rituals, and stories connected to boats in Chinese Malaysian cultures, reflecting on their meanings and relationships to journeys, communities, and memory. The workshop draws from the artist’s ongoing research during his three-month Khazanah Artist Residency in London.

Mok Yee's artworks are currently on view in our Paul Henderson Gallery as part of the Artist Project Showcase, running until the 22nd November 2025.
